The Rodenticide Surcharge Program (Assembly Bill 2776) established
an advisory committee, the Vertebrate Pest Control Research Advisory
Committee (VPCRAC), consisting of one representative from each of the
following: CDFA, the California Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers
Association, the University of California, the California State
University, the California Department of Health Services, and a public
member. Five representatives from the agricultural industry,
representing commodities affected by vertebrate pests, are also on the
advisory committee.
VPCRAC prioritizes research needs
regarding vertebrate pest control projects, issues periodic calls for
research proposals, reviews and recommends funding for the research
proposals received, monitors the progress of funded research, and
advises the Secretary on emerging needs and priorities.
